Retrain into Residential Surveying
Are you getting ready to return to work? Are you looking for a career you can fit in around other commitments, such as the school run? Why go back to your old job when you can learn something new?
The SAVA School of Surveying offers the only vocational qualification in residential surveying and valuation, leading to a rewarding and flexible career as a property surveying professional. The school delivers the industry-recognised Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation, a part-time course that can fit around your family life – with just two contact days per month.
What is a residential surveyor?
Residential surveyors are commissioned typically by homebuyers who are looking to gauge the condition of the property they are planning to buy. The surveyor will carry out desktop research before visiting the property to assess its condition and report on any causes for concern – for instance, dampness, building movement and Japanese knotweed in the garden.
About the Diploma
The Diploma in Residential Surveying and Valuation provides an alternative to the traditional degree pathway into residential surveying. This is perfect for those looking for a flexible and rewarding career, but who do not hold a relevant surveying degree.
The diploma provides you with all you need to become a confident and competent surveyor and valuer from the ground up – no previous experience necessary – and even offers direct entry into the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors at Associate member level.
SAVA learners can expect:
- Part-time learning to fit around family commitments
- Industry leading trainers with chartered surveyor status
- Support from SAVA’s dedicated learner support team
- Direct entry into the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) once qualified
- An industry recognised qualification
Mum-of-two, Alix Heritage, is currently studying for the diploma at SAVA’s Milton Keynes training hub.
“The great thing for me about managing family life and a career in surveying is that I can book all my appointments during school hours and then carry out all my desktop research and write my reports at home once I have collected the children from school. As the boys get older I will be able to manage longer hours at home as their needs become less intense!”
“I would really recommend this course to other mums…the opportunities afterwards are very appealing and the flexibility really does mean that mums can have it all – a focus on the family and a rewarding and varied career.”
