Returners to Financial Services Scotland Programme

FAQs

Does an 18-month career break mean that I can’t have worked at all for at least 18 months?

No. If you have been working on a small-scale or in a non-professional role to fit around family or other commitments, you are welcome to apply.

What types of flexible working are available during and after the programme?

The forms of flexible working on offer will depend on each company and role.

Can I apply to more than one of the participating companies?

You can apply to more than one participating company but please be targeted in your selection.

I’m not free on the assessment days. Can I apply anyway?

Please do apply but we cannot guarantee that we can accommodate other interview dates.

Will you be running any programmes after this one?

At the moment, this is the only programme of this type that is scheduled.

Is this a paid programme?

Yes, roles will be paid at a suitable professional level.

Is the programme open to men as well as women?

Typically, returner programmes are open to men as well as women. However, this programme is funded by the Scottish Government Returners Fund to primarily support women in work and therefore is directly targeted at women.

I’d like to work for one of the companies but my area of expertise isn’t listed. Should I apply anyway?

First look at the other participating companies to see if your skills and experience are a better fit. If not, and you feel that your skills and experience may be relevant, you can send your CV with an explanation in your cover letter.
