J. P. Morgan
Part-Time Equity Research Strategic Internship
Start date: Variable, on a rolling basis
Programme: Part-time 6 month strategic internship (note: open to returners rather than returner-specific)
J.P. Morgan is offering the opportunity to join their award-winning Equity Research business on a part-time basis (a week will consist of up to 19 hours of work). This is a rare opportunity to join an industry leading team under a more flexible working arrangement than that of a full-time employee. Globally and across Europe, J.P. Morgan’s Equity Research teams are thought leaders across their areas of expertise.
About the Strategic Internship
Offered for a period of 6 months on a part-time basis, you’ll support senior colleagues with important research, analysis and preparatory work. You will monitor markets, develop trade ideas and develop insight about the industry and companies your team covers. Your work and contributions will be valuable to the team from the start.
The program is an opportunity to continue your career in a high performing environment through hands-on experience, relevant skills training and valuable professional networking. Based on your individual achievements, the opportunity to convert to full-time employment may be offered, if desired.

A strong interest in global financial markets is essential, as are analytical and quantitative skills, flexibility, teamwork, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to handle pressure and enjoy a collaborative environment. A well-rounded academic background is important — a 2:1 Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in your undergraduate studies is preferred. You certainly don’t need a degree in Economics or Finance, but a strong level of numeracy is required.
Additional requirements include:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Confidence and initiative to take on responsibility and manage your own projects.
But beyond that, what they’re most interested in are the things that make you, you: the personal qualities, outside interests and achievements beyond academia that demonstrate the kind of person you are and the difference you could bring to the team.
Ideal candidates for the program are creative, innovative team players with analytical, technical, problem solving, planning and organizational skills. Individuals must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively in presentations, expressing complex financial strategies in an organized and articulate manner. The ability to relate well to internal partners and establishing strong working relationships is a crucial requirement of the program.
The candidates’ background and interest will determine where they will be placed within the Equity Research business. Individuals with previous experience operating at VP level (or equivalent) are most desirable.
