Right now, ITV is partnering with Women Returners to offer experienced and talented professionals the opportunity to return to the career they love after an extended break. So if you’ve been spending time with family, been travelling, or have taken an extended break for any other reason, the ITV Career Returners Programme could be for you.

They’d especially love to hear from you if you’re an experienced and highly motivated professional who’s taken a career break of 18 months or more, and you have a strong track record of working at management level in your field of expertise, you can effectively manage multiple stakeholders in a changing landscape, and you’re a great communicator and collaborator.

What are the opportunities?

There are lots of ways you can join ITV, including permanent positions, fixed term positions, and returnships, which are fixed term positions of around 4-5 months with the likelihood of a permanent role at the end.

That means there’s a good chance that they’ll have something that matches your skills, experience and preferences, and which meets their business needs.

Once you’ve registered your interest, they’ll have a chat with you about which opportunities might be suitable, and which area you’d like to work in – Technology, Studios Production (inc. Finance), or Regional News.

Here’s a quick overview of each area:


When it comes to technology, ITV is passionate about the same things you are. New tech. Typed functional programming. Pushing the boundaries of technology. Lean. Agile. Elm. Scala. Java. The Cloud. Tech is at the heart of their ambitious new strategy and set to shape their future.

They’re famous around the globe for shows that range from Coronation Street (we all know this) and the World Cup (no outages with record viewing numbers) to Love Island (record number of plays on the hub) and Unforgotten (Global Audience via Netflix and the Hub).

But that’s just part of the story. Behind the scenes there’s a technical revolution taking place.

They’re scaling up ITV Online, the home of ITV Hub. They’re in the early stages of transforming the architecture behind their ATS systems. And they’re taking on new challenges from using new streaming platforms and integrating their shows with smart connected homes to looking at how to distribute their shows globally and direct from their studios.

It’s exciting stuff. And right now, they’re looking for people to join a number of teams within their technology department including cyber security, software development, testing, architecture and data.

Studios Production

ITV Studios is the largest and most successful commercial production company in the country, and they produce over 3,000 hours of television annually in the UK alone.

It’s a growing international business with production offices in America, Australia, France, Germany and the Nordics, and includes ITV Studios Global Entertainment – their international distribution and consumer products business.

They produce programmes across a wide range of genres – from drama and entertainment, to factual and lifestyle for UK broadcasters including I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, Emmerdale, This Morning, Vera, Mr Selfridge, Come Dine With Me, Countdown, University Challenge, and the world’s longest running soap, Coronation Street.

It means that if you’re looking for an opportunity in production management or production finance, this could be right up your street, too.


ITV has 11 main news regions across England, Ireland, Wales and the Channel Islands, together with a Political Unit, and three critically acclaimed and award winning current affairs & factual programmes at ITV Wales and on the borders of Scotland at ITV Border.

All of which means their news teams have never been busier. They produce a massive seventeen live and pre-recorded flagship programmes on weekdays, plus local bulletins during Good Morning Britain, at lunchtime and after News at Ten. Every programme they produce helps their audiences clarify and connect, and gain perspective and purpose.

It also means they have loads of opportunities available within their news teams including Editorial and Operational roles, all London-based.
