Senior Commercial Lawyer

This is a supported hire position: a successful candidate who has taken a career break of 2+ years will receive coaching support through the transition period from Women Returners.

The Role

Following the successful hiring of a senior commercial lawyer through the Women Returners Professional Network, Clark Holt is looking for another senior commercial lawyer to join its Commercial/IP/IT team.

You can read about Belinda’s story here: http://wrpn.womenreturners.com/belindas-story/.

Ideally, the candidate would have a good knowledge of commercial and/or IT law, with specific skill sets, such as data protection, employment or IP law, being an advantage. The firm welcomes applications from both private practice and in-house lawyers.

If the successful candidate has had a career break of two years or more, Clark Holt would supplement the coaching provided by Women Returners with its own programme of refresher legal training and updates.

The role is full time and, although the firm is prepared to consider a degree of flexible working, the role is predominantly office-based in Swindon. It will also involve some UK travel (usually to London) on a fairly regular basis, to service the needs of clients.

The work will involve advising a wide range of businesses on commercial and IT matters and providing support to the Corporate team on M&A transactions.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

An experienced lawyer (barrister or solicitor);

A good working knowledge of commercial law and/or IT law, preferably with added skills sets (such as data protection, non-contentious employment or IP law).

Good team player.

Ability to take the initiative and win client confidence.

About Clark Holt

Clark Holt is a niche law firm, specialising in business law, which was set up in 1995, with the aim of breaking the mould of how a law firm should function. Unusually, although it operates a time recording system, the firm has no individual hours or billing targets, relying on the experience and professionalism of its lawyers to achieve the best results for its clients, consistent with a fair billing system. It is based in one open-plan office in Swindon Old Town.

Nearly all of the firm’s lawyers joined from City firms or large regional practices, with the common belief that a small team of highly experienced and collegiate lawyers can provide a much better, friendlier and cost-effective legal service than most larger firms.

Clark Holt concentrates as much on entrepreneurial solutions as on providing a friendly, pro-active legal service and pride themselves on their commitment and pragmatic approach to serving its clients’ best commercial interests. They also believe that, in addition to providing a high quality service, it is important to have fun in your business life.
