Camden Council is partnering with Women Returners to offer a new programme to support talented men or women back into work after an extended career break of two or more years. 

About Camden Career Returners 

Camden Council is offering successful applicants a paid six-month placement, with the possibility of transitioning into a permanent role. A range of flexible working options are available, dependant on the role. 

They have a wide range of mid to senior level roles available in Finance, Legal and IT for experienced professionals, and you will be placed in an area which matches your professional experience.  

To support you back into the workplace, you will receive coaching from Women Returners, a mentor from within Camden Council and you will have opportunities to network across the organisation.

You will receive a competitive package of pay and benefits during the programme.

The roles 

Legal 

The Council’s Legal Team undertakes varied caseloads across a range of disciplines. They provide support to both council departments and other public bodies – and the work they do directly affects residents’ lives. The role is for a Housing Lawyer. London is facing an unprecedented housing crisis. Camden Council knows that the affordability of housing is a big concern for their residents, staff, local businesses and their public sector partners – and providing decent affordable homes is a major priority for them. This is a wonderful opportunity to provide a high quality and comprehensive legal service on all aspects of law relating to the area of housing.  [This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.]

Finance 

From day one you will be part of a large team helping to drive forward Camden Council’s financial strategy – and ensure they remain innovative and creative in their response to the challenging financial climate. Camden Council has recently been accredited as a CIPFA Platinum Employer which furthermore demonstrates they are an employer of choice. The finance role is for a Systems Accountant where you will help maintain and develop their corporate financial system(s) and interfaces, acting as the Council’s expert on any purchases or changes that have an impact on financial systems.  

IT 

This is an exciting time in the digital transformation journey for Camden Council. Digital technology plays an increasingly important role across service delivery, and citizen engagement is key in their ambitious plans. They are working together with their partners to deliver the services that local people need in the way that they want. Camden are actively seeking a Project Manager and a Senior Project Manager. You will take responsibility for the definition, documentation and safe execution of medium-scale projects, engaging with stakeholders and actively participating in all phases of the project. 

Pay and Flexible Working 

Camden Council offers competitive pay and benefits and is always open to conversations about flexible working arrangements.  Salary during the work placement is dependent on the role you are appointed to and details will be available at the interview.
