Programme: 16 week paid returnship (part of Finance, Legal & FinTech Returners Scotland]
Brodies has 4 exciting 16 week placement opportunities across their Real Estate, Banking, HR, and Business Development (Bids) Departments. The positions will predominantly be located in their Edinburgh offices. Brodies is delighted to partner with Women Returners as part of this cross company programme funded by the Scottish Government to support women returning to the work place following a career break.
As part of the programme you will receive coaching support from Women Returners and a dedicated internal mentor to help you transition successfully back into the workplace. Brodies has an established culture of flexible and agile working which supports its diverse work force enabling employees to balance work and home life easily.
Their placement opportunities cover both legal and business support roles and they welcome applications from women who are returning to work following a career break of at least 12 months. The legal vacancies focus on Banking and Real Estate, however they would also like to hear from candidates with experience from different legal backgrounds who are keen to change direction. All they ask is for enthusiasm and commitment to upskill into a new practise area.
With guidance and support, the HR Advisor will provide generalist advice to several legal business areas, demonstrating a broad range of HR skills from recruitment & selection to employee relations. Candidates will have the ability to build relationships, influence and communicate in a fast paced environment. You will ideally have 4 years’ experience of working in a broad generalist position preferably in a professional/financial services organisation. Bids Co-ordinator – Business Development Team
They are looking for a Bids professional to join their dedicated Bids Team to take ownership of specific bids, assist the Bids Manager on aspects of larger bids and coordinate and develop the bid processes and procedures. Support will be provided by the Business Development team who have a wealth of knowledge in their respective practice areas. Ideally candidates will have 5 years’ experience in a previous bids/tenders role and will be enthusiastic, highly organised and calm under pressure.
Real Estate Lawyer
As part of a supportive team, Brodies is looking for candidates with a range of commercial property skills. Specifically the role will involve:
- Analysing and reporting on leases in retail, industrial, office and leisure sectors
- Assisting with acquisition, investment and development transactions
- Noting title and report drafting for clients
- General property management for various types of clients/properties
Candidates must be client-focused and committed to providing the highest level of client care. As well as on the job training and development, the department provides regular training sessions to ensure legal knowledge is kept updated. Required qualification – 2 years plus Scots or English qualified lawyer
Banking Professional Support Lawyer
Brodies is looking for a qualified Banking Lawyer to provide specialist professional support services to the Banking and Finance Department. The role will involve:
- Monitoring legislative change and case law in respect of material issues associated with banking matters
- Developing client updates on banking related matters, including giving analysis from both sides
- Collating and co-ordinating styles and practice across the practice areas/sector groups
- Supporting the Banking business development effort, in particular on external conference presentations and customised client-facing workshops
Candidates will enjoy working as part of team, possess strong research skills and have the ability to manage their own case load. Required qualification – ideally 5 years plus PQE within the Banking sector.
